My FoST LOVES cocaine.

Yes those are steelies. I had forgotten to post this on the first snow of the winter, so here it is!

****PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT****

Also, fellow FoST owners, apparently the FRPP for the FoST ($500) will boost you up 90 more ft*lbs of torque with just a flash, intake, and new spark plugs! Better yet, it doesn't void factory warranties and is warrantied itself!

Announcement 2: FoST owners get a FREE performance driving experience at Miller Motorsports park within a year of purchase. Holy Hell!

May be old news, but I don't care!

Damn. I want a free performance driving course, but I only bought a FoSE.

:( well you can always pay for it haha.

To be fair, I found the SE to be an OK car still. But the power is addicting holy shit. I am dying to hit summer with my performances tires to throw on the sport mode and feel the real acceleration.

I bought the SE after my WRX got totalled. I wanted the cheaper insurance and fuel savings... That and the dealers weren't offering good incentives on the ST in November.

WUT? That's when I bought mine, for under $20k. Which is well under invoice.

Levittown Ford in New York has it for $468.Cheapest I could find.

http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/performance.ph…

It's on my mod list along with the spark plugs after some upgrades related to the shifter, sway bars, and FR CAI.

Speaking of FoST, I saw a dealership tech where my Enterprise is located had dropped the engine from a FoST while the rest of the car was up on the lift. I wonder what was wrong with it, the car has been there for close almost 2 weeks,

You guys are really making me want some snow.

Because FWD, summer tires, and an entire city that shuts EVERYTHING down at the sight of 2+ inches. We had 4" drop overnight a few years ago so as I pulled into my work parking lot and decided to goose it. Front wheels spool up to 80 mph real fast on ice.

ROFL yeah. Snow is fucking fun as hell.

The exit ramp to my work is absurd, so in the dry on my old car I could take it at 50mph on a pretty decent turn which was loads of fun. The FoST is much faster though, but it hasn't seen summer yet.

Today I had a butt clencher as the roadways were cleaned but that off ramp apparently wasn't hahaha.

weirdly, the ONLY vehicle we get thats CHEAPER is the F150. our base truck is MUCH better then your base truck. and to load up your base truck to our levels, your spending another 8 K then if you bought it in Canada,.

Shit, well hopefully mine doesn't do that. Wouldn't matter much honestly, as I have a 10 year 100k mile warranty.

Yeah I'd like to do the sway bar. I also really need mud flaps.

I'm unsure about the tune though... I have the extended warranty because I will be relying heavily on this car. Not sure if that would void my extended warranty.

I don't understand why your prices are THAT much more expensive? Does it have to do with taxes? The cost of shipping the car isn't that much money...

Hahahaha. Exactly. Luckily I'm not a wreckless driver and was able to carefully slow the car enough to maintain traction and then kiss my snow tires upon parking.

I honestly have no idea. the Canadian dollar isnt so far behind the US dollar....

here is the focus ST for reference (BTW, thats the BASE price. they wont sell you a can focus without the block heater and what not. )

Kinja'd!!!

and I know what your thinking, but it rarely works. buying a car in the US, you pay some stupid amount of tax (i forgot exactly what it was, but north of 20% of the cost) to bring it in to canada.

I asked about incentives on the FoST when I was there. The answer was "oh, we're able to sell those without incentives", and they had only two on the lot, vs. the 20+ lesser models.

thats the sad thing.... I live 5 min north of toronto.

where I live, its loaded asians that just came from china and since getting a car here is SOOOO much easier then in china, i see more BMWs Mercs and audis then civics, sentras, and altimas combined.

and since they cant drive, it drive the insurance costs WAYYYYYY up (eg, a 09 legacy outback...they wanted 7 K to insure me...)

I have thought about it...

the ONE thing that stops me. The ONE big thing that stops me... is the health care. I REALLY like the way its done here...and as a motorcycle nut, you can imagine how much that means to me...

Kinja'd!!! Kailand09 > bob and john
01/06/2015 at 22:33

Kinja'd!!!0

assuming you can get a professional job, or a decent other job, health care really isn't that expensive and finding high talent physicians is easy.

Though it is understandable the hesitancy for that.

Kinja'd!!!1

I'm in school for engineering... GF is in school for comp sci, and would LOVE to get to silicon vally...

so many reason for it...but the health care...I've seen the sotries about how an accident bankruppted a family and what not..thats what scares me...

Kinja'd!!! Kailand09 > bob and john
01/06/2015 at 22:39

Kinja'd!!!0

No reason to fear that at all. There are protections in place, and especially with your two fields of study your jobs will supply proper health care, which will have set maximums that you would have to spend in a year. I believe my max is like $2k under worst case scenario.

Not to mention the job market for those things may be much better anyway.

I do think if you have the regular 5/60k warranty it shortens it to 36k, at least when I looked into it I saw that womewhere.

Kinja'd!!! Kailand09 > thedevilinside
01/06/2015 at 23:05

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah kind of. It's debated a lot how it actually works, and I'm curious how my extended warranty would handle it.

Kinja'd!!! thedevilinside > Kailand09
01/06/2015 at 23:13

Kinja'd!!!1

Ya, that's why I mentioned the regular one. I am just staying stock powertrain as long as I have mine. Unless I do an LSD someday after the warranty ends. . .

You've heard stories from people pushing a narrative because they want government running things. The fact is that if you're gainfully employed, you'll have insurance.

It's more expensive than it needs to be because of all the requirements and red tape, but instead of tackling the costs people were complaining about, they went for more coverage & mandatory services. So it'll continue to get pricier, but if you're working in any semi-professional field your plan will be more than adequate, and the wait times & rationing experienced elsewhere don't exist. Not the best system imaginable, but beats most alternatives.

I really don't want to go down to 4 cylinders, but if the 2.0 is good for 90 lbs-ft with a factory-backed tuned, I can only imagine what an AWD Focus RS will do if it has the 2.3 and starts around 330 hp...

Kinja'd!!! Kailand09 > samssun
01/07/2015 at 05:59

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah no kidding! I mean the car gets 270 ft*lbs already. I'd say 360 ft*lbs is insane. Add in like you said, the 2.3 should get around 100 ft*lbs added from a similar tune and you're at a whopping 430 ft*lbs.

Dayuuum,
